Abstract:

The paper defines the 'health' of a road pavement in terms of parameters of serviceability, safety and structural integrity and defines 'illness' as any departure from 'healthy' values of the parameters. It outlines a range of diagnostic procedures. The paper uses examples from Australian practice.
