Abstract:

This paper summarizes the development of a comprehensive analytical methodology and a computer model capable of simulating a wide range of flow phenomena in road culverts. The new flow classification discussed in this paper is based on actual field conditions rather than theoretical inlet/outlet control, and is verified in a physical model study. The computer based analytical process discussed here opens the door for a better understanding of various flow problems in Road culvert, and is intended to replace the use of hypothetical nomographs and some other hand calculation based methodologies.
