Abstract:

The paper reviews the risks of bulk liquid spills from tankers and tanker barges during transport and transfer and discusses means of minimizing the risk of spills. The use of spill modelling to assess potential environmental impacts and to provide a basis for the assessment of the contingency and response measures in place in a port is discussed.
