Abstract:

The U.S. Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory (NCEL) has been developing the concept of a Deployable Waterfront Facility (DWF) as part of its technology development programs for the enhancement of naval amphibious operations and equipment. The DWF concept has now reached the stage where the next logical step is to carry out a full-scale demonstration. This paper presents a summary of a project aimed at developing a comprehensive DWF full-scale demonstration plan. The paper discusses DWF configurations considered, evaluates candidate sites, and presents estimates of costs and schedules for performing the full-scale demonstration.
