Abstract:

Given sales and demographic data of recreational boating, urban dry-stack marinas will be the trend of the future where there is no room to expand. This paper describes a modern automated facility for handling boats including automobile parking, utilizing state-of-the-art materials handling equipment and technologies incorporated into a waterfront mixed used real estate development. Included are marketplace background and trends; technical description of equipment and required systems engineering; duty cycle analyses; materials handling equipment drawings with dimensional criteria; and a financial model.
