Abstract:

Racine County, Wisconsin, is a lakefront county os 173,000 residents located along the southwestern cost of Lake Michigan. A waterfront revitalization program, begun in 1982, has produced spectacular results. Racine County's 931-slip Reefpoint Marina opened in 1987 and operates at over a 90% permanent occupancy rate. The City's Festival Park was also completed in 1987 and has been fully booked with community events, trade shows, and festivals ever since. The in-water boat shows held at Racine every year have become a major regional attraction for the County. Two neighboring mixed-use developments were opened in the past year. A large downtown corporate headquarter complex is under cponstruction within eay walking distance from the County Marina and Harbor Park.
