Abstract:

The paper reflects the lessons learned by the writer thru involvement with the floating dock industry since the middle 1960's as both a manufacturer and a consultant. Sections of actual specifications are given which enables an owner and/or consultant to establish the overall layout, performance and safety standards wanted in the floating dock system being purchased. If these items are not totally spelled out in the specifications and contract documents then there is no basis for acceptance or rejection of the product supplied.
