Abstract:

This paper focuses on the setting up of a location reference system - named SINOD - envisaged as a basic requirement for on going actions and for expected developments in the field of road information systems in Portugal. The general characteristics of the system, some underlying conceptual aspects of its implementation and conclusions drawn from its practical application are presented.
