Abstract:

This paper presents the behavior of buried pipelines during soil liquefaction through reconnaissance work after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and response analysis based on a beam theory. The results of response analysis suggest that great consideration should be given to vibration-induced pipe strains during liquefaction.
