Abstract:

Three-dimensional (3D) computer modeling and animation are increasingly being utilized in the Engineering and Construction industry for the marketing of project services. Like 2D, 3D modeling was initially used to produce detailed drawings. Recently, simulation and animation has been applied to 3D modeling for design and constructability reviews, and for construction and maintenance task planning. These tools have also proven to be powerful aids for the marketing of our company and its services. We use 3D modeling as an integral part of the design of complex facilities. When a 3D model is prepared in conjuction with a project proposal, it demonstrates to the owner that we understand the owner's needs and have developed the project on a conceptual basis in sufficient detail to prepare the animation.
