Abstract:

Improving the inter-disciplinary communication of design and construction data is an important objective in improving the competitiveness of our construction industry. This paper discusses data communications requirements of an intelligent, automated construction planning system (OARPLAN) functioning in a prototype of a distributed, integrated computing environment (KADBASE). In addition to the basic problems of data integration, OARPLAN poses special requirements for accessing spatial, topological and temporal information.
