Abstract:

Two case histories are used to present the development and performance of a modular prestressed vertical shoring system to control deflections of existing structures during the demolition and replacement of structural support members. The basic system design and experience gained during these two projects were later used on several additional projects. All of the later applications were carried out without extensive instrumentation due to the experience developed on the two earlier projects.
