Abstract:

Two-dimensional vertically averaged hydrodynamic and sediment transport models were verified to field measurements from a 25-hour intensive survey in central San Francisco Bay. Excellent agreement of hydrodynamic model results to field measurements was obtained. The verification of the sediment transport model was only moderately successful, as the large fluctuations in total suspended matter concentrations measured in the Bay were not totally reproduced by the model. Several enhancements to the sediment transport model have the potential to improve the simulation capabilities of the model.
