Modeling and Field Experiments for Tracer Gas Tests

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulic Engineering

Abstract:

Numerical modeling and field experiments were used to extend the tracer gas technique for determining surface gas transfer rates to shallow bays. Two-dimensional modeling was used to investigate the behavior of the tracers and to evaluate field procedures and conditions which would produce accurate determination of the transfer coefficients. Field testing confirmed the essential features of the model results and led to feasible field procedures.
