Abstract:

There are several types of position indicator arrangements that can be installed for various types of gates. These arrangements include mechanical, hydraulic and electronic types. Larger gates equipped with hydraulic hoists requiring a stroke of 6 meters or more present a special challenge relative to position indicator reliability. This paper discusses the pros and cons of various types of position indication arrangements and their suitability for different types of gates.
