Abstract:

Ontario Hydro's operating philosophy is to operate all of its facilities in an optimum manner. The basic rationale for upgrading this plant is to maximize its energy potential (higher efficiency) and to minimize the production losses due to outages (increased power and discharge capability). This paper discusses production loss reductions, alternatives considered, performance specification, bid alternatives, flow simulation, and others.
