Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '91: A New View of Hydro Resources

Abstract:

The paper presents briefly the hydraulic problems related to the project which were successfully solved by the 1 to 100 scale hydraulic model study carried out at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. The river bed topography and the resulting hydraulic conditions in the project area are very complex and only a hydraulic model properly simulating the water profiles, discharge distribution, surface and bottom current velocities, and their directions could provide the required design information. Specially important was the determination of the backwater effects of the Mekong River stage on the above-mentioned parameters.
