Who is Taking Out the Garbage?

by Scott A. Underhill, State Univ of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Environmental Engineering

Abstract:

Due to the shortage of landfill space and the increasing amount of waste being generated, current waste disposal techniques should be studied and revised. New methods should be implemented to improve incineration and recycling, while education is needed to teach people about the benefits of reduction. Even though the Engineer is responsible for the technical aspect of waste management, it is up to the community as a whole to develop a system to handle their solid waste in an effective and efficient manner.
