Abstract:

This paper examines the potential application of in-situ bio-dentrification as well as pertinent physical and biochemical factors that control the process to reduce nitrate in groundwater supplies. Results proved the technical feasibility of using in-situ nitrate removal. The proliferation of biomass profoundly affected the potential interactions of contaminants and microorganism in subsurface region. Solids accumulation in the vicinity of the wells caused severe clogging problems and created high head-loss in the aquifer system.
