Abstract:

Some results from a deterministic computational model of beach and nearshore profile development are presented in this paper. Comparisons are made with prototype-scale flume measurements of profile change under monochromatic waves carried out at the University of Hannover, Germany. The sensitivity of profile predictions with respect to a number of input parameters is investigated, and it is concluded that some parameters demonstrate a marked sensitivity while others show very little. This work was carried out as part of the MAST G6M European research programme under a topic devoted to the intercomparison of beach profile models.
