Geotechnical Database Management Systems for Boston's Central Artery/Harbor Tunnel Project

by Martin Hawkes, Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff, Boston, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Geotechnical Engineering Congress?1991

Abstract:

This paper presents a geotechnical computer application currently in use on Boston's Central Artery/Harbor Tunnel (CA/T) Project. The application is designed to manage subsurface data collected from over 3000 borings. Relational file structures required to store subsurface data and the steps required to create and manage data in digital terrain model files are discussed. Procedures are detailed which allow the merging of geotechnical data with data from other disciplines using a projectwide Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system.
