Abstract:

An efficient substructuring algorithm is presented for analysis and optimization of frame structures on parallel machines. The underlying concept is to pre-process the input data in such a manner that subsequent analysis and redesign steps are carried out on multiprocessor computers efficiently. The algorithm is general, hardware-independent, and particularly suitable for analysis and optimization of large structures. It has been implemented in C on an Encore Multimax multiprocessor computer.
