Abstract:

The paper describes the approach taken to develop infrastructure rehabilitation procedures for Water Distribution Systems. Early research attempted to develop a mains condition oriented approach which would enable planned pre-emptive action to be taken. Extensive research led in a different direction to taking a standards of service approach. The paper describes the development of the planning approach and outlines how it has been successfully implemented.
