Real Time Forecasting at a Major Flood Control Project

Using data from a network of real time rain and stream gages, Alabama Power computes inflows in a deterministic streamflow model and adjusts outflows hourly to achieve optimum flood control performance. This paper explains this process and the component parts while describing how dependability is achieved.
