Abstract:

The Shaft Excavation Effect (SEE) experiment has been carried out by Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation (PNC). Corresponding to this experiment, an evaluation system of the excavation effect on groundwater flow has been developed. PNC has been performing a comprehensive hydrogeological study programme in Tono research field. This paper presents the evaluation system and some results that were obtained on the way of the experiment. The system has a comprehensive hydrological investigation subsystems and some pre-excavation data. Prediction of hydraulic behavior is carried out. In the prediction, the remarkable affected area, profile of outflow into the shaft, and piezometric head transition in four monitoring boreholes were estimated.
