Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Serviceability and Durability of Construction Materials

Abstract:

The construction of highway embankments over soft and waste deposits required the use of geogrids as an economical alternate to conventional methods of 'remove and replace'. This paper describes the field testing of soft deposits, analysis, alternate methods of construction, design of geogrids for support of embankments over soft and waste deposits and field performance. Field performance indicates that geogrids can provide good economical support for embankments over soft and waste deposits.
