Abstract:

Flow control gates are subject to complex hydrodymanic loadings, which may in many cases only be predicted through investigation on a physical hydraulic model. Scaling of gate models, practical aspects of design and fabrication of models gates and hoist mechanisms, and approaches for compensating for differences between model and prototype friction forces are presented.
