Abstract:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) has research programs designed to produce techonology with which to predict, measure, and control erosion and sedimentation associated with U.S. agriculture. Begun in the 1920s, the work now differs greatly from the beginning. This paper identifies key issues associated with the many facets of the program, describes what is currently being investigated, and enumerates some research issuse for the future.
