Abstract:

The existing sediment management program includes sediment investigations of reservoir, river and levee projects; gathering and maintaining sediment load records; providing sediment investigation guidelines; developing and conducting research; and supporting interagency coordination. The objectives of Corps project oriented sediment investigations, are: to provide basic information about source and cause of sediment; to identify the nature and extent of sedimentation; to determine how and to what extent sediment will affect project development, engineering, and operation; to determine how and to what extent sediment problems can be controlled; and to asses the costs and damages of sediment problems in connection with our water resources projects.
