Abstract:

To assist the engineer in planning and design of channel stabilization measures, an expert system (CADWET) was developed using a commercially available expert system shell program. The expert system embodies knowledge and understanding of fluvial systems developed from study of Demonstration Erosion Control (DEC) Project watersheds and other river systems within the Vicksburg District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The computer aided decision process includes consideration of channel stabilization, grade control structures, bank stabilization and other methods similar to those applied in the DEC Project.
