Abstract:

A rule-based computational advisor that aids in the selection of selective withdrawal operations for project release temperature maintenance is discussed. This advisor couples a one-dimensional numerical model that computes selective withdrawal vertical distributions in a density-stratified reservoir with a port selection algorithm and an expert system shell. Heuristic rules are built into the port selection algorithm presently, provisions having been made for incorporation of such rules from the expert shell in the future. The advisor is designed to run on personal computers to facilitate ease-of-use by project personnel.
