Abstract:

A method is presented for the determination of a practicable physical model of self-forming channels in cohesionless alluvium. Both sand bed and gravel bed regime channels are considered. It is assumed that the movable bed model is Froudian and distorted. The role of the friction factor is considered by means of the generalised Engelund-Yalin equation. Flow rate figurates as an independent variable; transport rate as an outcome of the process.
