SLURP: A Watershed Model for Satellite Data

by Geoff Kite, Natl Hydrology Research Cent, Canada,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Watershed Planning and Analysis in Action

Abstract:

A study is being conducted to determine the utility of satellite data for hydrologic modelling in different physiographic and climatic zones of Canada. As part of that study, a simple lumped parametric model has been upgraded to incorporate satellite data and to run on personal computers. This paper describes the model and its application to a watershed in Canada. Results of using the model with satellite data are compared to the results obtained using ground data only and preliminary conclusions are drawn on the utility of present satellite data for hydrologic modelling. A brief description is also given of the larger study of which this is a part.
