Abstract:

Watershed management decisions are aided through an accurate understanding of hydrologic processes. The finite element method applied to surface runoff with spatially variable hydraulic parameters provides the capability to accurately simulate surface runoff. Comparison of a finite element analysis to field measured values of flow depth and discharge on six hillslopes is reported.
