Abstract:

Spatial and temporal resolution of rainfall are studied using cross-correlation techniques. The cross-correlation coefficient is used in a semi-variogram type analysis to determine the appropriate combination of raingage spacing and measurement time interval for a network. The techniques are applied to a 30 station, dense raingage network for both a convective and a stratiform type event. Results indicate that network resolution can be successfully studied using these methods.
