Abstract:

This paper describes the Mid-Michigan Transportation Microcomputer User's Group. Purposes of the User's Group include promoting demonstrations and evaluations of transportation software; technical support by members and other professionals on hardware selection, transportation software and related analysis; coordination among software users; information exchange between professionals on transportation software and analysis; and cooperation between transportation and microcomputer professionals. This paper examines organizational issues and opportunities related to creating this group and shares the Mid-Michigan experience with the reader. This paper provides other users with procedural steps for creating a local organization devoted to advancing microcomputer applications in the transportation profession. The paper represents a case study and depicts one long-term benefit of the previous conference.
