Abstract:

An optimization model is presented for the design of a well monitoring network for groundwater quality and quantity parameters. The model utilizes a geostatistical procedure to estimate the optimal sampling locations. Kriging is used in an inverse problem, assuming a minimum variance of estimation to find the monitoring sites. The optimal sampling locations are selected from all possible sites using a tree search procedure.
