Abstract:

In this paper a temporal decomposition approach is presented to solve a long term deterministic model for a multi-reservoir system. Through relaxation the long term problem is broken into several smaller subproblems; each of which can be solved relatively quickly using standard nonlinear programming codes. Coordination between subproblems is accounted for by a Lagrangian penalty term in the objective function of each subproblem. Overall convergence is achieved through an iterative process by updating the Lagrange multipliers.
