Abstract:

Several water disputes among various parties in the Platte and Arkansas River Basins may have significant impacts on future land use practices. This paper describes five cases being litigated in either state water courts, the United States Supreme Court, or federal district courts. Aspects of the cases are reviewed, and the implications on near and long-term water management and land use practices are discussed.
