Abstract:

An optimization model for the 10-day operation of Te-Chi Reservoir in central Taiwan is developed. The inflow to the reservoir is forecasted by an ARX model with a Kalman Filter updating routine. The optimization formulation is solved by a discrete differential dynamic programming routine. The optimization model results are shown to be more superior than the current operating rule. The entire optimization model and the streamflow forecasting scheme were run on an IBM-AT compatible personal computer.
