Abstract:

In this study, a technique has been developed using Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet for distributing projected populations to small sectors throughout the study area. This procedure divides the study area into grids of small subareas. These subareas are used as the basic units to identify and allocate the future distribution of population within the study area. Utilizing the graphics capabilities of Lotus 1-2-3, this spreadsheet develops maps of the study area with allocated population, water demands, and/or wastewater flows for each grid cell. It has been successfully used by the Lower Colorado River Authority in several feasibility studies of regional water and wastewater projects.
