Abstract:

A method for the damage estimation of bridge structures under seismic ground excitation is developed based on system identification approach. The dynamic behavior of a damaged structure is represented by a nonlinear hysteresis model. Estimation of the nonlinear structural parameters is carried out by the extended Kalman filter.
