Abstract:

A stochastic finite element approach is developed for use in ananlyzing metal plate connected wood trusses. The procedure uses linear beam-column elements to model the wood members. The metal plate to wood connections are modeled using an element developed for this work. The first-order stochastic finite element method is then used to obtain the first, second, third and fourth statistical moments of joint deflections and member forces.
