Abstract:

In this initial paper we will discuss the development of the application of physical laws to the modeling of cumulative damage and particular to crack growths. The basic assumptions due to the classical methods in physical chemistry due to H. Eyring as well as the classical statistical kinetics due to Zhurkov. We did show how these ideas will be of significance to the application and parameter estimation in crack growth models.
