Abstract:

Owners are customizing project delivery systems by uniquely aligning service agreements and construction contracts. Seeking more productive ways to construct facilities, owners currently perceive the construction industry as a pool of individual specialized resources which can be employed to varying degrees in different combinations. This contracting philosophy is leading owners away from traditional general contracting, has generated new interest in design-build contracting and focused attention on the most versatile contracting system of all, CM or construction management contracting.
