Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Creative Application of Materials Engineering

Abstract:

The performance of asphalt concrete pavements is dependent to a large degree upon the rheological properties of the asphalt binder. Asphalt-rubber as a binder material extends the temperature range of desired material properties and can provide increased fatigue life, greater resistance to pavement cracking, and improved resistance to deformation. Laboratory evaluation and full scale field project substantiate the claim of improved performance of asphalt-rubber concrete pavements.
