Abstract:

Computer programs dealing with different parts of the optimization process are in operation in Norway today, and they include: the hydrological part from weather forecast to reservoir level/volume; the power plant with water passages and machinery; a series of power stations and reservoirs in a river system; and a set of power stations with transmission lines, distribution network and power market (varying demand and price). In this paper, a power plant program is discussed. This program was developed by Nybro-Bjerck A/S for the Norwegian State Power Board for use in their 33 power plants with 105 units with an annual production of about 30 TWh.
