Verification of Local Modes in a Two-Dimensional Tidal Model

Based on a generalized model equation, a two-dimensional hybrid finite element model has been developed to study tidal waves of incompressible, homogeneous fluid in rotational flows. In this paper, present model is verified for tidal waves around a circular island on a paraboloidal slope. Numerical solutions are compared with analytical results for both propagating and decaying modes. The present model is shown to be an accurate method for the solutions of tidal flows.
