Abstract:

Methodologies are presented within this article to aid in the quantification of the uncertainty in the management of stream water quality. Specifically, means are developed for: (1) establishing the probability distribution of dissolved oxygen and critical location in a stream; (2) finding the critical location under uncertainty; and (3) quantifying the joint risk of violating a given water quality standard with a known deficit over a specified length of the stream environment.
