Abstract:

Several dispersion models based on the Gaussian equation are evaluated to assess their relative utility in modeling emission dispersion from an area source, such as a landfill. The VAPOR model - a modified proprietary 'spills' type model originally developed by Stone & Webster for releases of volatile liquids - was in good agreement with other models, particularly the Point Area Line (PAL) and high square Industrial Source Complex (ISC) model. Future development of VAPOR will include integrating AutoCAD to 'pre-process' landfill shapes into an optimal form for the model data file.
